Halloween at PortAventura: A Unique Horror Experience
Since 2003, PortAventura completely transforms for two months each year to offer southern Europe's most spectacular Halloween event. From September to November, the park becomes a horror setting with themed decoration, terror mazes (horror labyrinths with actors), scare zones, special shows and a macabre atmosphere that attracts thousands of horror lovers from all over Spain and Europe.
In 2025, PortAventura celebrates more than 20 years of Halloween establishing itself as a horror reference in theme parks. With a multi-million investment in decoration, special effects, professional makeup and more than 200 actors characterized as terrifying creatures, the event has evolved from its modest beginnings to become an experience comparable to the best Halloween events at parks like Universal Studios.

Types of Halloween: Family vs Adults
PortAventura intelligently differentiates two types of Halloween experiences so everyone can enjoy according to their fear tolerance:
Family Halloween (During the Day)
During daytime hours (opening until approximately 19:00h), Halloween at PortAventura is family-friendly. Children can enjoy:
- Halloween decoration: Pumpkins, spider webs, skeletons and themed but not excessively scary decoration
- Family shows: Shows with Halloween characters dancing, singing and making you laugh more than scare
- Meet & Greet: Children can meet and take photos with "friendly" Halloween characters
- Trick or Treat: Candy distribution points throughout the park
Horror Halloween (At Night)
Starting at approximately 19:00h (may vary by day), the park completely transforms. Terror mazes open, scare zones activate, and hundreds of actors characterized as zombies, murderers, creatures and monsters invade the park to scare visitors. This format is recommended for ages 16+ and is NOT appropriate for young children.
The Terror Mazes: Horror Labyrinths
Terror mazes (also called Halloween labyrinths or mazes) are the main attraction of the nighttime event. These are 5-10 minute walking tours where small groups pass through themed settings while characterized actors try to scare you. They require a separate ticket called "Halloween Passport".
Cursed Island
Perhaps the most iconic and terrifying maze at PortAventura. Cursed Island is an outdoor tour located on a real island in PortAventura's lake. Visitors cross by boat to the island and then must traverse a dark path full of creatures, zombies and horror settings.
Theme: An abandoned island where scientific experiments have created mutations and terrifying creatures that now lurk in the darkness.
Characteristics:
- Duration: 10-12 minutes
- Outdoor route (may be suspended if it rains)
- Terror level: Very high - One of the most intense mazes
- Includes special effects, water effects, very close actors
- Actors can touch you (not aggressively) and chase you
- Claustrophobic atmosphere in some sections
REC Experience
Based on the successful Spanish found-footage horror film "REC", this maze immerses you in an abandoned building infested with possessed and demonic creatures.
Halloween Passport: The Pass for Mazes
To access terror mazes, you need to buy a Halloween Passport, which is independent of your park ticket. There are two modalities:
Standard Halloween Passport
Price: €25-35 per person (depending on day and advance purchase)
Includes: Access ONCE to each available terror maze that day (generally 5-8 mazes)
Halloween Passport Express
